Andy Nesbit

Health and Safety,

Andy rejoined the ABL team in 2022, bringing a broad skill set and practical, solutions-focused approach to the Invercargill Central Mall Project. Known for his versatility and reliability, he is a valued member of the ABL team.

He began his career in residential and commercial carpentry, completing an adult apprenticeship and earning his National Certificate in Carpentry in 1998.

Andy’s background also includes 10 years as a Police Officer, achieving the rank of Detective, followed by investigative and compliance roles. He worked as an Investigator with the Ministry of Fisheries on Quota Management Fraud, and later as a Team Leader and Senior Investigator with the Southland Regional Council, overseeing investigations into Resource Management Act breaches and monitoring resource consents.

Before returning to construction, Andy spent 2.5 years as an Employment Consultant, further strengthening his communication and relationship-building skills.
With his wide-ranging experience, Andy brings valuable insight and adaptability to every task.

Andy has also taken responsibility for Site Health and Safety Audits, actively participates in the company Health and Safety Committee as a Health and Safety representative, manages and undertakes 4 monthly Tool Testing and Tagging and management of ABL’s Telehandler fleet. 

Andy holds current Site Safe Passport and Management certificates and is inducted and trained as a Connector within the Mates in Construction programme which is focused on Suicide prevention within the construction sector.

He holds a current driver's license with Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsement, current Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) operator, holds a current First Aid certificate and is trained as a Fire Warden.
