Ricky joined Amalgamated Builders as a project manager and quickly established himself through his proactive approach, calm demeanour and professional manner across all levels of construction. Building on his strong project delivery background, Ricky has since been appointed into the role of operations manager, where he brings more than 20 years of industry experience, leadership and a strong commitment to the successful delivery and ongoing improvement of ABL’s operations.
With extensive experience across the building industry, Ricky has progressed through a range of roles, developing a comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies, project delivery and the operational requirements necessary to deliver successful outcomes. His broad technical knowledge enables him to provide practical leadership and informed support across multiple projects and teams.
Prior to joining ABL, Ricky held roles with organisations including Apollo Projects and McMillan & Lockwood within the Christchurch market. These experiences have enabled him to develop strong and enduring relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and site personnel, while gaining a thorough understanding of the commercial and operational requirements of construction delivery.
Ricky has experience across a diverse range of sectors, including industrial, healthcare, education, leisure, residential aged care and government. This breadth of experience has provided him with a wealth of knowledge that he now applies at an operational level, supporting project teams, improving processes and ensuring consistency across ABL’s delivery.
As operations manager, Ricky plays a key role in supporting and developing the wider ABL team. He provides leadership, guidance and practical support to project and site teams, while working to ensure that the systems, processes, resources and relationships required for successful project delivery are in place. His ability to remain calm and solutions-focused enables him to effectively manage competing priorities and provide direction across the business.
A strong enabler of the teams he works with, Ricky places significant importance on developing the skills, knowledge and attitudes of those around him. He believes that strong operational performance is achieved through capable people, clear processes, effective communication and a collaborative approach.
