Projects - St Patricks Basilica Redevelopment
St Patricks Basilica Redevelopment
- Historic Place Category 2 renovation
- Protective wrapping used to protect the building
- Structural upgrades, architectural upgrades and finishing details
The St Patrick's Basilica in Dunedin was originally opened in 1894, and was the architect Francis Petre's first departure from Gothic style and into Palladian Architecture.
This preservation project involved a structural and architectural upgrade to the heritage building, and consisted of extensive earthquake strengthening, and new polished floor structure to provide waterproofing, a new roof, and interior / exterior upgrade.
Heritage features of the building were protected at all times throughout the project, including full tent protection over the roof to protect against weather; and barriers / hoardings to protect priceless features from damage during construction.
