Lakes District Museum - Earthquake Strengthening and Restoration
This project involved earthquake strengthening the historic 1867 former BNZ stone building and restoring its original looks.
A great deal of planning and care went into how we poured the concrete ring beam due to the stone’s unstable state.
Core drilling through stone walls and grouting in RB25 @ 1200 centres which were cast into a new 400x400 concrete ring beam which in turn was fixed to the new steel beams
This formed the base for the timber frame on which formed our gutters, chimney’s and pediment which we lined in ply and dressed with TPO.
CRC component’s will make up the finished look. Inside was added new concrete sheer walls, and steel work to the first floor for a new ply flooring.
