Kamana Residences
The construction of the Kamana Hotel Queenstown, an 82-room luxury hotel, involved delivering a complex hospitality building on a steep hillside site with stunning views overlooking Lake Wakatipu.
The challenging location, combined with variable and often harsh weather conditions, required careful planning and precise sequencing to manage site logistics, structural and carpentry works, and services installation effectively.
Throughout the project, strict attention was given to safety protocols and quality control, ensuring the successful delivery of a high-standard, durable building that complements its spectacular natural surroundings.
Temporary on-site offices and facilities were established to support project management, coordination, and communication throughout the build.
The project was designed by Hallion Architects Ltd, whose thoughtful architectural approach maximised the site’s natural contours and panoramic views. Structural engineering was provided by Lewis Bradford Consulting Engineers, delivering robust solutions tailored to the hillside’s geotechnical conditions.
Cosgroves led the services engineering, integrating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to support operational efficiency and guest comfort.
Collaboration between all consultants and contractors was key to overcoming the site’s steep terrain, weather challenges, and complex logistics, resulting in a high-quality, enduring outcome.
