“We represent a brand that is focused on delivering the next great luxury experience, and our new dealership will revolutionise luxury automotive in our region, seamlessly blending opulence with our commitment to sustainability, and providing our guests with an immersive and unparalleled experience.

As we unveil the newest Lexus vehicles celebrated for their innovation and performance, we welcome our guests to our new showroom, back at 54 Tuam Street, to partake in the spirit of Experience Amazing – a unique human-centric celebration that excites and inspires the sense of our guests. I’m truly excited about this next chapter for Lexus in New Zealand.”

Inviting customers to Experience Amazing

Clearly reflecting Lexus’ design DNA and commitment to sustainability, the new showroom invites customers to Experience Amazing at every turn. Designed by Warren and Mahoney, and constructed by ABL, Lexus of Christchurch operates across two levels with 572 sqm of showroom, customer lounges, offices, and car parking, all of which embody Omotenashi, an ancient Japanese concept that describes one’s ability to anticipate the needs of another, even before they arise.

Sustainability front of mind

The new Lexus of Christchurch showroom has been designed using thermal modelling to optimise glazing, shading elements, thermal mass, daylight levels, and passive ventilation, all of which contribute towards ideal conditions with minimal energy input.

Solar panels powering EV charging and building infrastructure

A key highlight of the new showroom is the 39 solar panels that will sit atop the roof, providing 20,000 kW of electricity per year to the showroom. Moreover, as Lexus currently offers two electric vehicles (the UX 300e and RZ 450e) the new dealership will feature EV charging stations for customers and retail vehicles, with much of the power coming from these solar panels.

Excess waste diverted from landfill

70% of construction waste from the building site has been diverted from going to landfills, thanks to compliance with the New Zealand Construction and Demolition Waste Reporting Criteria. Throughout the building process, preference has been given to materials and finishes with environmental quality certifications including Declare, Redlist Free, and Greentag. Among this includes 100% recycled, carbon-neutral carpet, 95% of the building’s steel sourced from a Responsible Steel Maker, and 95% of all timber being certified by a recognised forest certification scheme, or from a reused source.

Lexus’ long-standing Canterbury history

The Miles Group has been proudly representing Lexus in Christchurch since the early 1990s, initially starting as a sales and service outlet at ILAM Toyota before transitioning into a standalone dealership on the corners of Tuam and Montreal Streets in 1994.

Who is the Miles Group?

With dealerships dating back to as early as 1918, the Miles Group is one of New Zealand’s leading independent motor vehicle groups, officially representing a diverse range of respected vehicle brands online and at 18 physical locations throughout New Zealand.

Our group exists today thanks to our founding director’s focus on excellence in customer service throughout all aspects of our business, combining the strength of our nationwide group with a local-centric approach to each dealership’s own community.

Along with servicing all aspects of New Zealanders’ vehicle needs – from sales and finance to service, parts, and accessories – the group’s dealerships all play an active part in supporting their local communities through various charitable and sporting initiatives, investing in a better tomorrow.
