ICC Museum Storage and Research Facility
ABL responded to Registration of Interest for design and construct services and negotiated a Guaranteed Maximum price GMP contract for a sophisticated cool store permanent Storage and Research Facility to house the existing Museum Collection currently based at Southland Museum and Art Gallery. The total GFA of the main building is 1650m2 over one level and Building Importance Level 3 with specialist environmental control.
ABL established the design team and managed the design process in partnership with the client attaining consent within 5 months and updated cost plan reporting. Project needs were meet to accommodate the clients external shelving and landscaping contractors.
Early contractor involvement meant additional scope and betterment was provided in the final documentation to maximise public value and operational use.
The storage facility is constructed with concrete slab on fill, structural steel frame, PIR exterior façade wall and roof panel cladding with steel stud and timber partition walls and incorporates a detached metal clad timber framed plantroom and firefighting storage tank, civil carpark construction, hardscaping, fencing and roading.
This project was completed on time in early December 2023.
