Projects - Te Anau Visitors Centre Redevelopment
Te Anau Visitors Centre Redevelopment
The Te Anau Visitor Centre owned by Real Journeys completed a major strengthening, refurbishing & fitout project of their existing building on the Te Anau waterfront.
Extensive work was undertaken on the existing foundations, completely new layout, new entrances & exits, glass canopies, new roof and architecturally designed cladding systems.
The visitor centre has been redesigned to create a warm inviting space inside that maximises the stunning lake views and can comfortably accommodate more people than before the refurbishment project. The ground floor now has an open plan area with a central counter, making it easy to talk to the Visitor Centre team and access local tourist information. The first floor is an open plan administration office. Pedestrian flow and access to the wharf have also been improved and a new viewing deck has been added outside.
New pick up and drop off bus zones were created and a completely new fitout was done throughout. This was completed during the tourism off-season and the project was finished on time and within budget.
